If you don't have a very specific reason why you want full frame that you couldn't achieve with lenses, you almost certainly don't need full frame. It's probably also worth mentioning that "full frame" is simultaneously a historically small format, and also likely overkill for most general photographers. You really don't need to worry about it unless you're using different sensor size cameras and need to work out some equivalence. It'll just look more wide angle on larger sensors, and more telephoto on smaller sensors. No matter what sensor size the lens is made for, a 50mm lens is still a 50mm lens. But on the other hand, 100 horsepower is suicidal for a go kart. But that horsepower will feel very different depending on what kind of vehicle you're in.įor example, 100 horsepower is paltry for a bus. What are the pros and cons of each one, especially since Sony's mirrorless range has been out for longer, does the larger amount of native and 3rd party comparable lenses beat Nikon's ability to use the FTZ adapter? I’m hoping to spend about 2500 with body + a decent zoom lens (kit lens is fine) + a 50mm Prime + maybe some money left over to start saving for another good lens, and since most native lenses are extremely pricey for both, I like being able to use nikons older range. Since the D3300 is a crop sensor, none of my lenses work with any full frame so that isn’t really a factor as I'll have to invest in new lenses anyways. Currently I’m trying to make up my mind between the Nikon Z6 and the Sony a7iii, which seem very comparable. It seems like mirrorless is the way to go now, especially as I would like to get into video and wish to keep a slightly tighter budget, but if there is a DSLR that can really challenge mirrorless cameras of the same price point, I'd love to hear about it.
